Myanmar (Burma)

Location of Myanmar Ethnic Composition

flag of Myanmar (Burma)
The current flag design dates to Jan. 4, 1974. Its 14 stars, for the states and divisions of Myanmar, form a circle around a cogwheel, for industrial workers, and ears and leaves of rice, symbolizing the peasantry. Blue is for truthfulness and strength; red for bravery, unity, and determination; and white for truth, purity, and steadfastness.

Myanmar or Burma is a country in Southeast Asia. It lies along the Bay of Bengal. Mountains border Burma on the west, north, and east. They enclose the Irrawaddy River Valley.

The Irrawaddy River empties into the Bay of Bengal through many mouths, forming a large delta.

Rangoon, Burma's capital and largest city, lies on this delta.
