The Highland Springs-Sandston Lions Club is getting ready for our 19th annual "COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS TREE OF LIGHTS". You are invited to join us and your neighbors by sponsoring a light on our tree and in turn helping those in our community who are less fortunate.
In view of the events that took place on September 11, 2001 and in honor of our troops serving in Iraq at this time, or tree will be glowing in RED, WHITE and BLUE lights again theis year. The RED lights will represent IN HONOR of a loved one, or someone special. The WHITE lights will represent IN MEMORY of a loved one or someone special. The BLUE lights will be to honor and remember all of the victims, firefighters, rescue personnel who were killed os September 11, 2001 and those who have died in Iraq and on foreign soil and the military families who will be spending Christmas without their loved ones at home.
What a better way could you celebrate Christmas than by sponsoring a light or lights on the "COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS TREE". For a donation of $4.00 per light, you will not only be remembering your loved ones and special friends, but you will be making a wish for better eyesight or hearing for someone right here in your community come true. These donations provide our club with the necessary funds needed to pay for eye exams, eye glasses or hearing aids that some folks could not afford otherwise.
A brief tree lighting ceremony will be held this year on Friday, December 2, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at Fire Station No. 3 located on Nine Mile Road, Highland Springs, VA. Santa called and asked if he and Mrs. Claus could stop by to talk with the children and get some of our good cookies. Of course, we were delighted and said, "Sure". So gather the family and join your neighbors for a community get-together to help others and see your lights for the holiday season on our "COMUNITY CHRISTMAS TREE OF LIGHTS". Bring your cameras and have your picture taken with Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus if you have been very good. Light refreshments will be served and programs listing the names of each sonsor and the names of those being remembered will be handed out.
