Proven Rumors

1. Crookshanks, Hermoine’s cat, is part Kneazle: True, this is confirmed on J.K. Rowling’s official website and explained in the book “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.”

2. The Ravenclaw ghost will finally make an appearance in the next two books: True, Rowling stated on a muggle news show that she is called The Grey Lady and will make an appearance in upcoming books.

3. J.K. Rowling is not planning on writing any more books after Year 7 in the series: True, this is confirmed on J.K. Rowling’s official website. She has no plans to write a prequel or sequel to the series.

4. The last word of Book 7 will be “Scar”: True, J.K. Rowling has said that currently the last word of the book is "scar", however this is subject to change!

5. Lupin will make a return in upcoming novels: True, JKR even said that he is going to play a big role in the 7th book.

6. We will learn what Harry's parents did for a living before they were killed by Voldemort: True, JKR says this is intregal to the plot.

7. The fact that Harry has his mother's eyes will be very important in a future book. As is the fact that her wand was a great wand for charm work: True, on Rowling's official website she stated that these would be very important in the future.

8. Regulus Black is really dead and will not make another appearance: True.

9. The title of book 6 (the 'Half Blood Prince') was at one point, the working title for book 2: True, a lot of stuff that was in early drafts of book 2 (and then removed as it was too revealing) will be in book 6. JK says that book 2 holds the key to the plot and there are many clues in both book 2 and book 5 that lead to book 6.

10. A graveyard at Hogwarts will play a part in book 6: True, as a matter of fact when director of the 3rd film, Alfonso Cuaron, wanted to put a graveyard in the background in one of the scenes in the film, JK said: 'No, no, you can't put it there - the Hogwarts graveyard is on the other side of the castle and it's important for book 6.' We've never heard of a 'Hogwarts graveyard' before - it's interesting to think why Harry might visit it - perhaps the Hogwarts founders are buried there ... or perhaps the ghosts, meaning that Harry might find out more about exactly how people become ghosts.
11. At one time in the writing process, Hermione "had" a younger sister, whose name has not been given: True, However, JKR decided not to include that character, so Hermione became an only child.

Disproven Rumors

1. Mark Evans who appears in OotP is related to Lily Evans: False, Evans is a common last name and Rowling assures us that there is NO connection to anyone in the story. The character just needed a name.

2. Crookshanks, Hermoine’s cat, is an animagus: False, Crookshanks is not an animagus; however, he is not purely cat either.

3. Rowan Atkinson, also known as Mr. Bean, will play the role of Lord Voldemort in the Goblet of Fire movie: False, Atkinson will not be playing any role in the upcoming Harry Potter movie as confirmed by both him and his agent, Janette Linden.

4. Ginny’s real name is Virginia: False, According to J.K. Rowling’s official website Ginny’s real name is Ginevra.

5. Lily Potter was played by Rowling herself in the movies: False, Rowling was offered the chance to appear as Lily in the Mirror of Erised but refused.

6. Draco and Harry will form an alliance at the end of the series: False, Contrary to popular thought, J.K. Rowling has spoken against the idea that Draco and Harry will join together for a "common good".

7. Harry will be tempted by the "Dark Side": False, A reporter who interviewed Ms. Rowling said JKR confided Harry will NOT be tempted to the Dark Side.

8. Harry will become an animagus like his father, but a lion instead of a stag: False, J.K Rowling said in several interviews that Harry will not become an animagus like his father.

9. Lily or James Potter will return in upcoming books: False, JKR says, "Magic can't bring dead people back to life," so we will not see a "live" Lily or James Potter.

10. Book 7 will be called �Harry Potter and the Fortress of Shadows�: False, JKR has stated that this will not be the title nor will it be "Harry Potter and the Forest of Shadows"

11. The shape of Harry's scar is important: False, the shape of the scar is only important in the context that it is noticeable and highly recognizable; however, other things about it are very important.

12. Narcissa is related to Lily or Petunia: False, despite their names all deriving from those of flowers Narcissa is in no way related to the Evans. Her last name is formerly Black and she is from a long line of pure-blood wizards. Lily, as we are told, is from a long line of muggles.

13. Dumbledore is a relative of Harry�s: False, Dumbledore is not Harry's father or related to him in any way (JKR promises she's not doing a 'Star Wars' on us), JKR insists that he has 'his mother's eyes and other distictive features that belonged to his father, and also that if Dumbledore were Harry�s relative that he would not have been sent to the Dursley�s.

14. Hermione and Draco will date: False, Hermoine will never go out with Draco, though JKR hints that she will go out with someone else it has already been noted that Draco hates �mudbloods� and that Hermoine hates Draco.

15. Harry is related to Voldemort: False, All the specualtion about Harry being a relation of Voldemort overlook one oft repeated fact in the books. Tom Riddle/Voldemort was the last heir of Slytherin so there are no younger descendants of the line. If there were a descendant the Death-eaters would know of him/her as they are mad-keen genealogists as demonstrated by the family tree in Sirius' house.

16. Professor Snape is a vampire: False, JK said that there is no connection between Severus Snape and Vampires.

Uncomfirmed Rumors

1. The 7th HP book will be called "Harry Potter and the Forest of Shadows"

2. It is largely thought that Harry will die in the 7th book, Dumbeldore will tell Harry that when Voldemort took Harry's blood in the fourth book, he made an unbreakable connection between them. Dumbledore says that that only way for Voldemort to die is for Harry to die as well. He will die in order to bring the downfall of Voldemort.

3. We will learn about Harry's grandparents in future books.

4. The secret to Harry's riches will be revealed in an upcoming book.

5. Lupin will be murdered by Peter Pettigrew (rumored because Peter has a silver arm and silver kills werewolves)

6. Malfoy will become Captain of Slytherin Quidditch team

7. Ron and Hermoine will �hook-up�

8. Harry will �hook-up� with Luna or Ginny

9. Neville will become the DADA teacher.

10. Neville will be the one who destroys Voldemort, not Harry

11. Fabian and Gideon Prewett are brothers to Alice Longbottom (Neville's Mother)

12. Arthur Weasley will kill Lucius Malfoy

13. Albus Dumbledore will die before the end of the series
