Prof. Snape is the current the Potions master at Hogwarts; however, it is widely known that he is interested in the Defense Against the Dark Arts. Prof. Snape is a former Death Eater, follower of Lord Voldemort; but, he is a spy for Dumbledore now. Dumbledore trusts him completely for reasons unknown. Growing up, Prof. Snape had a very rough time in school and was often picked on for his scrubby appearance, particularly by James Potter, Harry’'s father. (Thanks Kat!)

His greatest fear has something to do with a severed hand . Seamus Finnigan is his best friend, and he considers the Patil twins the best-looking girls in the year. Harry and his friends generally believe that she is a fraud; however, she has had at least two true prophecies, including the one, which helped bring the downfall of Lord Voldemort. Trelawney is known for predicting the death of one of her students at the start of the term and wearing many gaudy clothes along with glasses that make her eyes seem ten times their normal size. She was recently removed from her position by Dolores Umbridge and replaced by Firenze; however, she has been reinstated and it is rumored that she will share her divination duties with Firenze from now on. He is so feared by magical people that most refer to him as "You-Know-Who" or "He Who Must Not Be Named" rather than saying his name out loud. He is also referred to as the "Dark Lord", although generally only by his followers. His downfall came when he attempted to murder Harry Potter, while he was an infant, and had his powers deflated. Lord Voldemort is a half-blood wizard from a troubled family, which his dislike of muggles can be attributed too.
