US OF ARCHIE
1974-1976
CBS
God Bless America, indeed!  US of Archie was getting underway with celebrating the Bicenntenial pretty early.  The premace of this particular program was to relive historical events as viewed by the "ancestors" of Archie and the gang like the Wright Brothers flight at Kitty Hawk, or Benjamin Franklin's discovery of electricity, among other events.  Unlike The Archie Show or The Archie Comedy Hour before it, US of Archie had entire half-hour episodes rather than two or four shorts.  Also it marked the return of The Archies performing musical numbers, but this time around the songs was about that particular episode and the event it covered.  There's not even a soundtrack for this show!  Maybe one day...

This show, however, was another flop but it was pretty good and educational.  But this show marked the end of The Archies run at CBS.  By the time a new Archie program surfaced, they would have a new home with a certain peacock.  Stay tuned!

WEBMASTER'S NOTE: This is just my personal theory.  When Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz was about to do the first-ever animated mini-series This Is America, Charlie Brown, I wonder did he look to US of Archie as the inspiration?  I'm also a huge Peanuts fan, too!!
