| The doorbell rang once again and they thought it was the delivery boy returning."I'll be back,"she returned to the doorbell's request."Did I not give you enough mo...ney,"her eyes met his. Those eyes she hadn't made contact with in nearly a week. "Hi." She just stared. This was the man she loved for nearly five years and forsaking all others for nearly two of them. He was gonna know. "Can I come in?" "Give me one good reason why I should let you in?"she finally found the words. "Everything okay Mis?"Nick entered the hallway leading to the door. "I know I am not seeing this,"Howie shot up. "We're just having pizza Howie,"Melissa returned. "Just pizza?" "What if we were doing more anyway? It's not like you shared a bed with me enough for me to know what being a woman felt like." "And Nicky boy does?" "What if he does? You gave up the right to justify my sex life the minute you started cheating on me." "Excuse me?" "Maybe it's a good idea if I leave Mis,"Nick interjected. "That's a very good idea Nick. She still is my wife." "I'm gonna go Mis,"Nick shot in. "You're staying and he's leaving,"Missy commanded. "I'll wait in the living room then." "You're letting him stay?" "As opposed to you and your charming demeanor?" "What's happened to you 'Lis?" "I developed a gut. Something I should have done a long time ago with you." "It wasn't always that bad was it Mis?" She glared at him. "Come on. You remember the concert I sang every single word of "I'll never break your heart" directly to you?" "Yeah, but the funny thing is, you meant it then,"she slammed the door on his face. Her arm crossed her stomach as tears invaded her features. Nick returned to her presence and wrapped his arms around her consolingly. She instantly turned within the comfort of his arms and continued her rainstorm of tears upon his chest. He just held her. He didn't know what else to do."Mis?" She looked up blearily eyed. He wiped away the tears."What'd he say?" "Just...I..oh..,"she blithered back into a flood of tears. "It's gonna be okay Mis. It's gonna be okay,"he continued consoling her. He somehow wanted, maybe even felt a need to comfort her. At any rate, he knew this wasn't a game anymore. |
