She was laying cradled in the warmth of his body early the next morning as she felt him stir.  She looked up to meet those wonderfully rich and deeply emotion filled brown eyes."Good morning,"she uttered.
"Morning,"he returned.
"Sleep well?"
"Not really.  I met this wild girl last night and she did some pretty incredible things to me."
"Sounds like I should meet her."
"I think you already know her."
"I'll be on  the lookout so she doesn't steal you away from me."
"No one could ever take your place."
"You are the sweetest one."
"But I'm bad when I wanna be."
"Don't need to convince me of that."
He looked at the clock."Seven fifteen.  Hon I hate to ruin this beautiful moment but I have to get going if I'm gonna make it on time,"he flew out of the bed and into the bathroom
She followed him in."Do you want me to make you anything for breakfast?"
"Something quick and easy."
"Okay.  Love you,"she kissed him and dressed herself before going out into the kitchen.  She had to tell him.  As much as it pained her after last night, she had to.  He needed to know.  About  a half an hour later he rushed into the kitchen to find  a complete meal; phone already attached to his ear.  He responded with a yes or sure thing intermittently as she watched him fly through his breakfast.  He hung up the phone long enough to thank her.
"We need to talk."
The four words every guy hates to hear.  He turned back to her."Sure babe.  Tonight."
"Now,"She demanded as she moved closer to him."I need to tell you about that day in my office and how it was connected to the guy five years ago."
"This can't wait until tonight?"
"I've been trying to tell you for the past three months but everytime I do, we are interrupted by a  phone."
He guiltily looked at his as it shrilled into their conversation again.  He answered the phone.  She grabbed the phone from his ear.  She flung it across the room; next to tears."Dammit Howie!  Two seconds of your time please.  I know they can wait."
He stood there stunned  with her behavior.  He'd never seen her like this before. Was this going to be their first fight?  God he hoped not. He found his phone and assessed the damage she'd done.  She grabbed his arm."Is that phone so much more damn important that you can't listen to me?
"What do you want from me?"His mood turned on her.
"I want you to listen."
"We can talk tonight,"as he made his way for the door.
"It was AJ!"she bellowed as he stopped in his tracks.  It couldn't be.  He turned to her once again stunned.  He just looked.
"God Howie.  Say something please."
"I don't know what to say."
"He attacked me Howie.  He's done it before."
"Before?"
"The guy I met five years ago,"she solemnly responded.
"He didn't."
"He didn't  rape me.  He just used me when the need arose and it wasn't always pretty."
"I've gotta go."
"Howie,"she begged.
"I'm sorry Kara.  I've really gotta go."
"Howie please ,"she begged.
"What do you want me to say Kara?  You're telling me the reason you haven't let me touch you the way I touched you last night for nearly three months is my best friend?  How do you think I'm supposed to react?"
"You know, I'll just fucking leave my key on the counter and walk out of your life right now.  I should have known better than to get involved with another musician."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"You'll stick by your friend before you stick by the woman you supposedly love.  I've been there too many times in my life to know that."
"So why did you get involved with me then?"
"Because I thought you were different,"she set the key on the counter and walked out the door.
