Elias Willis Howell migrated west to Utah with his family. In 1852, his family left the Council Bluffs area and headed west in a wagon train let by Captain Wood. After traveling about 200 miles, cholera broke out in the camp and Elias Willis' father, Edmund Wheeler Howell, died on July 10th near present day Gothenburg, Nebraska. Elias Willis, then 15 years of age, continued west with his mother and two sisters. For more detailed information, check the link on the left to Elias Willis' history. |
