Spitting Cobras--"Idle" + 1
Wrecked 'Em   2005

Good indie rock sure is hard to find these days. With a sound close in spirit to Hazel, Spitting Cobras recall healthier days for the form on this 7". Solid songwriting and performances combine here to impressive effect.

Comprising the first side is
"Idle." Marked by a very cool chant-along chorus and complimentary co-ed vox, this one is a real gem. Pacing remains fairly consistent throughout, though an abrupt tempo shift near song's end closes things on a nice note of impatient urgency.

Filling out the B-side is
"Tickin'." Male voices combine on this track to provide a baritone slanted sense of depth. A perfectly placed guitar break early in the song leaves the bassline exposed, highlighting the tune's slithery undercurrent.

If this style isn't your cup of tea,
Spitting Cobras probably won't change your perspective with this outing. However, if you lean even a little bit in this direction, this 7" should prove a worthy pick up. Solid all the way around, with a sense of subtlty most such efforts are missing these days.
