Sam Fox--All Around The World
MVD   2004

If you were a young gent hitting puberty in the mid to late eighties, there's good chance a poster or two of the luscious Samantha Fox graced your bedroom walls, to further exasperate that situation. You may not have known it at the time but this lady had a lot more going for herself than those stunning physical assets that had you hypnotized. Not only was she a top model of the day, she was also a giant in the world of dance music, as well as a budding actress. For almost two decades, Sam Fox has continued to build upon those resume points. All Around The World provides an interesting and entertaining look at her journey.

At just sixty minutes of running time,
All Around The World crams a lot of information into a small amount of space. Thankfully, it does so very well. Sam talks about everything from being a topless "Page 2" model as a teenager, to touring the world as one of the top dance music artisits around, right on through to the pitfalls and fun of working in independent film. There are some shocking revelations in terms of major movie roles she has been up for, as well as a story that manages to involve Jethro Tull (talk about your strange bedfellows). All in all, it's a fun and compelling view.

As a bonus,
All Around The World provides you the opportunity to check out a pair of videos from Sam's Watching You Watching Me album, "Santa Maria" and "Let Me Be Free." For the style, this is solid stuff and should appeal greatly to fans of such new school vixens as Brittney Spears and the ilk. Plus, you get to check out a nice photo gallery from Sam's massive portfolio. This is actually the only area All Around The World could've been improved in, as that section of the disc feels a bit too thin. Still, the additional stuff turns out pretty sweet.

In the end,
All Around The World highlights the fact Sam Fox is actually a bit of an innovator--the multitasking career path she took is standard operating procedure for the teen pop stars of today. If you've got kids who love this aforementioned style of music, All Around the World should prove wildly enjoyable for them. Don't worry though, Dads--Sam has held up amazingly well with time. Think of this DVD as a potential harbinger of family bonding that's extremely easy on the eyes. Regardless of your home situation, if you're a Sam Fox fan of any sort, everyone wins here.
