Reverend Bizarre/Orodruin--split 12"
Hellride   2004

In the realm of doom metal, it hardly gets better than Reverend Bizarre and Orodruin. Combine these two groups in the same package and you get something really special. This split 12" between the two bands is testament to that fact. From the sickest of doomers to the greenest of newcomers, it all adds up to a must-own release.

Reverend Bizarre open the split with their track "Demons Annoying Me." True to form, this is a sprawling, monolithic, Vitus-esque cut that would've competed with "Strange Horizon" for top track had it been included on the Harbinger Of Metal EP. The thing that seperates this song from other Reverend Bizarre efforts is its utilization of both Albert's clean and blackened scream styled vocals, as well as a briskly paced section toward its end. All in all, another winner from these guys.

Orodruin wrap things up with a pair of offerings, "Ascending Damnation" and "Master, the Tempest is Rising." Their strength as a band has always been the ability to merge their vintage sounding doom metal base with elements from virtually every subgenre that falls under that umbrella. Things are no different here. That said, these are the two most bluesy songs Orodruin have ever cut, in terms of feel. For diehards and casual fans alike, the band have come through for you--twice again.

In this split, you get three perfect songs from two perfect bands. There doesn't exist an angle where this 12" isn't a can't-miss proposition. Act fast--this release is limited to 500 copies. With
Reverend Bizarre and Orodruin, you can't afford to miss the measliest scrap of doomed output.
