| Miss Pussycat--Part of Two Puppet Shows Anal Log 2001 Some of the best moments in Miss Pussycat's puppet shows come when the creatures which inhabit her imagination break into song. I've often thought it would be great if someone compiled all those moments to spotlight the songs. Well, my wish has, in part, come true with this 7", Part of Two Puppet Shows. The A-side, "The Yellow and Black," is taken from The Bee's Secret Formula puppet show which is featured on The Animals' Clubhouse LP (see review here). This was a great choice, because the two songs featured in that puppet show are amongst the best from any of the puppet shows. "The Yellow and Black" sounds kind of like a jack-in-the-box being cranked vigorously, with a theremin-like accompaniment layered on top. It's a really cool listen--as always, with sweet, engaging vocals and lyrics. The B-side, "The Easter Bunny," is terriffic, too. I've never seen or heard the puppet show this was taken from, so it was an extra-special treat. "The Easter Bunny" sounds something like one of the more spare Pleasure Principle-era Gary Numan tracks, but with a really fast beat behind it--as contradictory as that statement may sound. It also has a neat choppiness happening that's not unlike a delay effect. It should also be stated that the story portion which sets this song up is hilarious! All told, this is another great outing from Miss Pussycat. She never fails to bring delight to the soul. You've got to score this! In an awesome denim sleeve, to boot.
