Ill Conduit--s/t (demo)
self-released   2001

The world of sludge is seemingly an endless pool of Eyehategod impersonators. That being said, to find a band on the sludgier end of things with a sense of originality is a nice treat. Enter Ill Conduit and their self-released, four song, demo CDr.

The first three songs on this demo are really great--brutal and sludgy. The thing that seperates these songs from the typical field of sludge is the almost pure doom/pure metal nature of the riffs. This style really compliments the screamed sludge/hardcore vocals well.

If there is one weakness to this demo, it is the final acoustic track,
"Fields Of Fire." While this is a good song, the vocals are mixed so low they're almost inaudible. It sounds a little like the singer's voice is given out, which is understandable considering how fiercely he screams on the other tracks. Not a huge problem, though, and something that is easily remedied.

All told, this is a great effort from
Ill Conduit. Well written songs, nice production, and solid individual performances make this worth checking out. A band to keep your eye on.
