Deloreans--...Are Your Girlfriend's Favorite Band
Sonico   2005

It seems there have always been very strong and pronounced opinions on the mixing of hard rock and punk. Objectively, it's nearly impossible to deny this union has produced music more than deserving of the "classic" tag. Still, many purists scoff at this meeting of the minds, for whatever reason. Listening to this Deloreans 7" EP ...Are Your Girlfriend's Favorite Band makes you feel sorry for those determined to miss out based sheerly on politics--this is a triumphant and very fun ride.

Filling the whole of side A is
"We Lost You." Here, we see the Deloreans coming off as Germany's answer to Turbonegro. Lots of heys, hos, and everything else that comes from having been touched by the Ramones is here, yet these guys still never manage to retreat from their arena destroying stance. If you were shaken by "Get It On" off Turbonegro's Apocalypse Dudes album, this one is for you.

The
Deloreans kick the B-side off by letting you know exactly where they're coming from, serving up a cover of the KISS classic "C'Mon And Love Me." Combine the band's crushing sound with their revenant performance and you've got a real winner on your hands in this one. "Love Hurts" closes out the EP perfectly. This Deloreans original straddles the line between the aforementioned Turbonegro and the Backyard Babies. Yes, this slab is hard and powerful all the way, but the guys wanted to end by reminding you how much they rock.

Next to the awesome
Cheerleader666 Gutter Days 10", this is probably the Sonico label's best ever release. If they keep it up, they'll soon be the first and last name in punk n' roll. As for the Deloreans, they deliver on ...Are Your Girlfriend's Favorite Band in a way most bands only ever dream about. One of those out-of-left-field surprises that makes life worth living. These guys deserve a full-length release--quickly.
