As great as ANTiSEEN have always been in the studio, they're essentially a live band. Onstage, the power inherent in their music takes on a supernatural strength certain to crush every audience in its path. Screamin' Bloody Live is a superb document of this phenomenon. A couple sweet bonuses make it an extra brutal and essential score.
One of the most striking things about Screamin' Bloody Live is how tight ANTiSEEN remain throughout. There is a bluntness to what these guys do musically that tricks some folks into believing what they're hearing is sloppy. That couldn't be further from the truth, though. Over the course of twenty plus songs, ANTiSEEN remain crushingly sharp. The setlist is so stacked with classics, it's pointless to try and pinpoint standouts--the band throw in everything but the kitchen sink.
One thing that does stick out about Screamin' Bloody Live is the inclusion of two bonus multimedia tracks. Throw this disc into your computer and you get to view videos for "Commando" and "Guns Ablazin'." Basically, both clips are collages of live footage from various ANTiSEEN concerts. There aren't words for how exciting it is to take in the spectacle with your own eyes. Not many other bands could offer their audience a night filled with some of the best, most uncomprimising music ever made, on top of senton bombs from the stage through flaming tables. This is only one of the many things that makes ANTiSEEN so much more special than the rest.
Even without the fancy bells and whistles, Screamin' Bloody Live is one monster of an album. This disc probably captures the true essence of ANTiSEEN better than any studio effort could ever hope to. As such, it's a manditory pickup for diehards and newcomers, alike.
