ANTiSEEN/Hellstomper--Keep It Flying 7"
Steel Cage   2002

Talk about your all-time great pairings for a split release! Putting Confederacy of Scum brothers ANTiSEEN and Hellstomper together makes this Keep It Flying 7" a no-brainer, total winner of a release. It just goes to show that sometimes the obvious choice is the best choice.

ANTiSEEN kick things off with their cover of Hellstomper's "Hellstomper." The country & western undercurrent of this song meshes perfectly with the steel wool locomotive assault these boys from Brutalsville always dish out. The refrain, taken from the Smokey & The Bandit theme song, caps things off fittingly. Unbelievably great.

As if that wasn't sick enough,
Hellstomper wrap things up with their take on Motorhead's "White Line Fever." While doing a Motorhead cover falls under that aforementioned "obvious" column, for the average bottom feeder Motorhead begins and ends with "Ace Of Spades" (which is admittedly great). Choosing this early, forgotten Motorhead gem shows that Hellstomper are not to be messed with. They manage to preserve the cool funkiness of the original, while bringing their Southern fried bulldozing power to the mix, without diluting either half. It's an incredible effort that makes for a very rewarding listen.

If you're uninitiated to either band and able to play vinyl releases,
Keep It Flying is the teaser you need to go bankrupt falling all over yourself to amass both backcatalogs. As an added bonus, this 7'er is pressed on bitchin' white wax and has the absolute best picture sleeve ever. If you don't love this, there's little chance you'll ever be even remotely cool. Perfect as perfect can be.
