| Lebanon Enterprise 7/4/1947 CHILD, 3, DROWNS IN CREEK SUNDAY BODY OF JOHN L. HOURIGAN IS FOUND BY BROTHER, 11 Having wandered away from a group of children with whom he had been playing, John Lancaster Hourigan, 3 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Tilden Hourigan, was drowned in the Beechfork near his home five miles north of Gravel Switch Sunday afternoon shortly before 6 o'clock. He had been dead only a few minutes when taken from the stream about 100 yards from the family dwelling. According to the report, the little boy's brother, Bobby Hourigan, 11, missed him from the yard, where the youngsters had been at play, and immediately instigated a search. Ten minutes later the body was found in the creek. Apparently the child had waded into the water and had fallen into a hole approximately three feet deep. Mr. and Mrs. Hourigan, who were calling on neighbors at the time of the tragedy, returned home just after the body had been recovered. ELEVEN BROTHERS AND SISTERS Besides his parents and his brother, Bobby, the little boy is survived by 10 other brothers and sisters. They are Juanita, Wanell, Thelma, Mary Theresa, Nannie Margaret, Fayrene, Eugene, Franklin Dee, Linda Carol, and George Thomas Hourigan, all at home. Funeral services were conducted at the Haysville Church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and burial followed in the Haysville Cemetery. |
