| Lebanon Enterprise 11/20/1953 LEBANON MAN CRASH VICTIM, INJURED WHEN CAR OVERTURNS, WILLIAM O. HOURIGAN DIES AT HOSPITAL HERE, COMPANION ALSO HURT William O. Hourigan, 25, son of Mr. and Mrs. Foster Hourigan of Lebanon, was injured fatally yesterday morning when the car in which he was riding overturned on the Springfield-Perryville Highway, four miles east of the Washington County seat. He died at Mary Immaculate Hospital at 4:55 am, three and a half hours after the accident. Death resulted from head injuries, according to police. PINNED IN WRECKAGE The wreck also hospitalized another Lebanon resident, Charles Edward Wright, 28, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Wright. Police said Wright, who was driving was pinned beneath the wreckage for some time and suffered possible internal injuries. He too was taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital, were the full extent of his injuries had not been learned yesterday. Two other local youths, riding in the back seat of the car escaped injury. They were Billy Culver, son of Mrs. Walter Culver and the late Mr. Culver, and James Parrott, son of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Parrott SKIDS IN LOOSE ROCK According to reports givin city police, the accident occurred when Wright lost control of the car after it skidded in loose rock on the shoulder of the road. It overturned twice. The quartet were enroute home after a trip to Boyle County. Police said the car is owned by Wright's brother, City Street Commissioner James Wright. BROTHERS, SISTER SURVIVE Hourigan's survivors, in addition to his parents, include a sister, Carrie Lou, at home, and three brothers, Howard, of Lebanon, Charles and Robert, both of Louisville. The body is at the Bosley Funeral Home were services will be conducted at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon by the Rev. A. B. Colvin, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Haysville Cemetery. |

| Lebanon Enterprise 5/6/1955 LHS STUDENT DIES IN CRASH BROTHER OF '53 WRECK VICTIM SUFFERS FATAL INJURIES AS CAR OVERTURNS NEW MARKET BOY HURT A Lebanon High School senior was fatally injured at 10:30 pm Saturday in an automobile accident at the foot of Muldraugh Hill on the Campbellsville Highway. The victim, Howard Ray Hourigan, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Foster G. Hourigan, Lebanon, was dead on arrival at Mary Immaculate Hospital. He suffered severe head and chest injuries. Also injured in the crash was Robert Hardesty, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. George L. Hardesty, New Market. Hospital attendants said he suffered a broken collarbone, lacerations and shock. CAR LEAVES PAVEMENT The two were diving toward Lebanon in the Hardesty boy's car when the vehicle went out of control on a slight curve at the foot of Muldraugh Hill and overturned several times. He came to rest against a gasoline pump in front of Mann's Store. Both youths were thrown from the car and police were unable to determine immdeiately which of them was driving. Hourigan's death was the second traffic fatality recorded in Marion County this year. His brother, William O. Hourigan, 25, was killed November 19, 1953, in an automoble accident in Washington County. In addition to his parents, his is survived by a sister, Mrs. L. C. Followell, Lebanon, and two brothers, Charles Hourigan, Louisville, and Bobby Hourigan, Lebanon. The body was at Bosley Funeral Home until Tuesday afternoon when last rites were conducted at the First Baptist Church by the Rev. A. B. Colvin. Burial was in Haysville Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were six LHS classmates: Howard Keith Hardin, Mike Caskey, Ronald Farris, Tyra Gibson, Charles Turner and Gerald Hillman. |
