CLEANSING YOUR CRYSTALS

There are probably as many ways to clear crystals 
as there are people, or crystals for that matter.

I recommend that you clear any new crystal as soon as you get it home. 
When you first get a new crystal it's a good idea to 
cleanse it to clear any energy  left from people handling 
it in the store or whatnot. Clearing the crystal is quite similar
to the personal centering and clearing one does before 
embarking upon some new facet of their path.  

That way it is all clear for attunement and programming. 

Here are a variety of ways I have used to clear crystals. 
As with all things, go with what feels right. 
I highly recommend creating your own personal clearing ritual. 


Some stone people don't do well with some cleansing methods; 
halite dissolves in water, for instance.

One way to clear your crystals is in water. This was the first way that I learned to clear my stones. I started with natural sources of running water and then later used any source (like the water from my faucet).
Sea salt is another that has worked well for me. I just dump a generous helping of sea salt into a bowl or jar and bury my crystals in it until they tell me that they want to come out.
Sunlight can be very effective in clearing and charging a crystal at the same time. Just leave your babies out in the sun for a while ; they will tell you when they want to come in Amethyst and fluorite tend to fade in direct sunlight, though.
Moonlight can be used to great effect in much the same way. Leave your crystals out for a moon bath at the time of the full moon. Some folks say that the full moon charges best and new moon is best for clearing. Go with whatever feels right for you.
A large cluster can be used to clear smaller crystals by placing them on top of it.
Sage can be used to smudge crystals. Just take your sage and thoroughly bathe your crystal in the smoke. This will clear the crystal and make your house and clothes smell heavenly for quite some time.
A bell or tone can be used to cleanse crystals. Simply take your bell and strike a clear tone right above the crystal. Voice tones can be used as well; I prefer the F above middle C.
White light does a great job of clearing and charging simultaneously. Hold your crystal in your hand and surround it with white light that you are drawing in through your crown and channeling down your arm to your hand and the crystal. Remember to hold the intent that the energies thus cleared are to be sent, transmuted, back to the good from whence they came.
You can also similarly transmute the energies by holding the crystal in your left hand and visualize the energies flowing up your arm and through you then released, transmuted, back to the good from whence they came. Using this method I sometimes like to hold my right arm in the air with the palm to the sky, sending the energy back to the source of all things. You can then switch hands and program the crystal.
