NOTE TO PARENTS: WARNING
Back to Main Page
Before you read this, I must tell you that what you are about to read are only possibilities of what could happen. The Spook Light area is usually very quiet and harmless during weekdays. Weekends are the days you need to worry about safety.

Please read this warning before you let your children visit the Spook Light. It can be a
very dangerous place to be. Don't decide to not let your children go right away, but don't just let them leave without knowing about what they are getting into. The roads that the Spook Light are found on are very dark with few overhead lights, and are completely covered in a large area of trees and brush and would make it very easy for anyone to commit a horrible crime. I have never had a bad experience on any of my visits, but I do know people who have. Santanist groups can be found on these grounds every now and then, holding worship ceremonys and on Halloween night, I can almost guarantee that they will be there, holding sacrifice rituals. I know people who have done this! Also, almost every group who visits brings along some sort of alcohol or drugs, thinking that they can get away with it. And you know what? They can! Even though the people who live here have a neighborhood watch program, the police are RARELY seen traveling these roads which makes it easy for kids to get out of hand. The Spook Light area is always dangerous at night and even carrying a cell phone will not completely save you from danger. There are many trees which make it hard to reach outside the area and it is very far out so at times you will not be able to even get a signal. I do advise you or your child to have a cell phone that is fully charged with them at all times, just in case sometime does happen. There are many people who speed up and down this road, and you or your children can get into a accident. It is easy to get a flat tire by driving down these roads, because they are so rocky and are poorly taken care of. Please take a moment to go over this list before you or your children leave.

1) Have a fully charged cell phone handy in case of emergencies.

2) Be sure to have a good spare tire and proper tools in your car in case of a flat tire.

3) A flashlight in case it is necessary to get out of car.

4) Set a time that your children are to be back. Have them call when they arrive AND when they leave for safety precautions. If possible, call while they are there to make sure everything is okay.

5) Please check to see if there are any drugs, alcohol, or weapons in the car they are traveling in. If you are extra worried, call the Miami, Oklahoma police and ask them to take a trip down the roads just to be sure there is no danger.
