"Calling All Horns..."
by Casey Lee Pettitt
On Saturday, April 3rd, 1999, the four horn players of the Sumner High School Band (Elizabeth,
Casey, Matt & Brandon) traversed over the great Cascade Mountains to Central Washington
University to participate in Central Horn Day '99. The heard performances of solo horn
and ensemble literature performed by CWU students and faculty and a great artist. The guest
artist, Arkady Shilkloper, is a renowned horn virtuoso.
Our awesome horn section also had the opportunity to show up all the other horn players of
Washington while performing in a huge, massed ensemble of hornists of all ages and levels.
Wait a second... Our horn players didn't go to Central Horn Day '99. That's right. I almost
forgot that little detail. Well then, nevermind this article. It makes no sense whatsoever.
Final Farewell to Fellow Horns
by Casey Lee Pettitt
It is with my most heartfelt regret that I send a verbose farewell to my fellow colleagues
of the art of playing the instrument formerly known as the French horn.
As graduation is at hand, I am indubitably cocksure that we have had our final performance
together as horn players. My only regret was that I wasn't section leader while the three
seniors and myself were still playing together; that I was unable to lead them to the glorious
paradise of... horndom. Yes, I will miss my comrades, my fellow musicians on this lump of
gratuitous space debris that we like to call home.
I wish you well my friends. Exist a lengthy amount of time and endure the hardships of life.
I will miss you.
What am I saying?! I'm gonna be section leader next year! Woo hoo!!!!
Thank you for reading this piece of well written junk.
