acheten is almost done and ready to reopen! ^^ and sel has redone the layout for the photography site because the previous one was ugly. also, sel is now officially fifteen, she got her first 3 rolls of film from her new camera back from the developer (she can't develop color film at school) and they're awesome, sel is in love and it's not good, and sel's dad bought her a pomegranite and sel is eating it this very minute.

alias/pen-name - sel ambre
age - fifteen
gender - a girlie (this seems to be a confusing aspect for people)
location - michigan, usa
occupation - high school sophomore
contact - email [email protected]
you should know - sel likes to talk in third person, sel is very random, and sel takes forever to say anything because she rambles too much
sel likes - photography, photoshop manipulation, horseback riding (which is a LOT harder than most people think), dogs, her city and the area around it, her school, music, boys (duh), walking, the country, and writing
sel dislikes - chatspeak, little kids, football, george w. bush, jogging, sluts, her algebra teacher, and crowded beaches.
the beloved bands - queen, cake, the cranberries, bond, eminem, coldplay, green day, and various other bands she's heard on the radio. her cd collection contains the cranberries, cake, queen, bond, abdel wright (a sample cd obtained from a johnny clagg (sp?) concert), the freaky friday soundtrack, matchbox twenty, and maroon five.
horses -
riding: sel has been riding since july, 2004. she doesn't own a horse, but rides once a week. she rides english at a private barn. sel is working on the basics: lower leg position, cantering, and jumping 2 ft at a trot. she loves to jump, especially bounces. sel rides jitters, a nine-year-old appaloosa gelding, 15-someodd hands high. he doesn't like people grooming or spraying water on his neck, but besides that, he is pretty mild. he has a spazzyfast canter and is hard to control when jumping. he likes to walk crooked and go around jumps, and sometimes he forgets to turn at the edges of the arena and sel has to do all the thinking. there's been many a time that neither he nor sel was paying attention and they ended up in the cross country field.
tri: sel volunteers at therapeutic riding inc once a week every session (3 per year, sessions are 6 weeks long). she's coming up to her third session at tri. she started spring, 2005. she takes the half-hour drive out to dixboro every saturday and grooms and tacks up two horses, starting at 8:00 am. at 9:00 she leads a horse out and warms up before handing it over to its handler. she then sidewalks three classes until noon, when the classes for the day end. she is also a substitute leader, and when one leader does not show up she leads the horse for the three classes and someone else sidewalks for her. each mentally/physically disabled rider traditionally has one leader (to lead the horse from the ground and control it) and two sidewalkers. the sidewalkers help the rider stay balanced and paying attention to what the instructor is saying. it is very rewarding volunteer work, and sel thinks that everyone should do it.
pets -
the dog: sierra is a five year old female golden retriever with the temperment of a puppy. she shares a birthday with johnny depp, but is many years younger (thank god). she is afraid of random things, like backpacks. she also has what her family affectionately calls 'tennis ball radar'. if there is a tennis ball (or, for that matter, any ball) within a 5 mile radius, she WILL find it. sel thought this was normal until she took sierra to buhr pool and let her play in the water (sierra is afraid of water, too. especially when there are waves in it). she kept stealing toys from other dogs and not giving them back. she is so selfish. but she is the sweetest, most loving, caring dog in the world, at the times when it is least appropriate. sel trained sierra, and she is unbelievably well-behaved. sel does a form of canine showmanship with her, and some of the accomplishments are: if sel drops the leash, sierra stops; sierra does not pull at all; if sel snaps the leash, sierra speeds up; if sel says 'hoooo' in a deep voice like with horses sierra will slow down; sierra can obey commands while off-leash.
the cat: casey is a 1 year old black/white mixed breed male cat. he came to us in may, 2005, as a stray, and adopted our porch as his home. he is now part of our family. he was originally called 'john-charles francois', so dubbed by sel's neighbor and best friend deedee, as an inside joke. for short he was called 'jc', but mum made sel change it because her parents are very christian and would take offense to it (jc = jesus christ). casey is afraid of nothing, and has been known to take naps in the middle of the street. he is also tail-less. he is very vocal, especially when he wants to go outside or he wants food. he wants food all the time though.
