Salads & mezedes

       Dacos is a filling
        snack that goes well
        with ouzo.

      Originally it is
        made with the Cretan
        biscuit which has a
        very characteristic
        taste but a simple
        hard biscuit will do.
        Alternatively you can
        use for basis
        some grilled bread.

Dacos (from Crete)

Difficulty:

Ingredients:
(for 1 person)

1 hard biscuit
1 tomato
Mizithra or feta cheese
Olive oil
Oregano or caper
Salt - Pepper

Soak for a few seconds the biscuit in some water until it becomes soft but not too much. Place it in a plate and pour some olive oil on it. Spread the surface of the biscuit with the mizithra or the feta trimmed. Peel the tomato, chop it in small pieces or grind it and place it on top. Springle some oregano or caper and some salt and pepper. Add a few drops of olive oil on top for decoration and maybe some parsley or basil and serve.
