Chapter Twelve

About an hour later, Angela sat in the living room with Zo watching cartoons as Taylor talked with his mother in the kitchen, Zac sitting with a bowl of ice cream at the table. Zac was pretty much ignoring them, trying his best to stay out of the conversation, but it was obvious that he was listening intently.

"So this Angela girl," Diana said. "She seems really nice." Taylor nodded.

"Yeah, she is," Taylor said. "She's just got that thing, you know? She just comes off as a good person." Diana nodded.

"I bet she comes off real well," Zac muttered. Taylor turned to him, his mouth gaping open. Zac paused. "UmI mean"

"You'll be lucky if she doesn't run in here and kick your ass," Taylor told him. Zac gave him a look.

"She can't hear me."

"Oh, she can hear you," Taylor said, shaking his head and turning back to his mother who was pleasantly pretending she hadn't heard anything. "Anyway, let's move on."

"Can I ask you something, Taylor?" Diana said, looking at her son. He nodded. "Um, what happened to Angela? She looks a little beat up."

"Oh," Taylor said. "She was in a car accident about a week ago. It was pretty bad, she got beat up but she's doing a lot better now."

"Oh how terrible!" Diana said. "What happened?" Taylor shrugged.

"I'm not entirely sure, but I know she got sideswiped by some guy on a cell phone," Taylor said. "She's fine, but she got bruised up pretty bad. She's kind of embarrassed about it." Diana nodded.

"Well that's okay. She's a wonderful girl," Diana said, and walked out of the room, smacking Zac in the back of the head on the way out.

"Ow, hey!" he said. She gave him a stern look and left the room. Taylor sat down at the table with Zac. "So you and Angela are finally together then, eh?" Taylor nodded. "It's about damn time, you've only been lusting after her for a month now."

"I have not been lusting after her," Taylor said. "I don't know what you're talking about." Zac gave him a look. "Whatever."

"So you were out with her this afternoon?" Zac asked. Taylor nodded. "Where'd you go?"

"Her hotel room." Zac raised an eyebrow and Taylor kept his knowing look. "Ohhthat would explain your testiness at the 'comes off' comment."

"Yeah"

"So how was it?"

"I'm not going to tell you!"

"Oh, why not?" Zac asked. "It wasn't bad, was it?"

"No!" Taylor said. "No! Angel's listening and I know she doesn't want me to tell you even that much."

"She's all the way in the living room, Taylor."

"She's listening," Taylor said. Zac looked confused. "She can hear us and I know she's listening right now. You know how she healed your paper cut yesterday?" Zac nodded. "She can do stuff like that. She's got certainabilities." Taylor! Don't tell him! Angela's voice scolded. "Oh come on, like he doesn't know already!" Taylor said. Zac gave him a confused look. "Never mind. I didn't say anything, and I'm not telling you about anything that happened today."

"Whatever." Taylor got up.

"So amazing," he whispered and left the room. Zac smiled and watched him leave. Taylor went into the living room where Angela was sitting with Zo still in her lap, watching television. "It's past her bedtime." Angela looked back at Taylor.

"Is it really?" she asked. "Well, Zo, looks like a good night's sleep for you."

"No!" Zo said.

"Oh, come on, Taylor and I will read you a bedtime story." Zo agreed and Angela stood up, the television turning off. Taylor followed the two of them out of the room and up the stairs, where Angela got Zo into her PJ's, brushed her teeth, and brought her into her room.

"So what story do you want, kid?" Taylor asked, sitting on the edge of Zo's bed. Angela was lying with her in the bed, an arm tucked around Zo's little shoulders.

"Make one up!" Zo said.

"All right," Angela said. Taylor looked at Angela who smiled. I'll put her to sleep after I start, she told him. He smiled and looked at his little sister. "Once upon a time there was this little girl. Her name was Zo Genevieve and she was three years old," Angela said, stroking the little girl's hair. Almost immediately her eyes began to droop. "She had a big older brother who loved her very much, and then she fell asleep." Zo had fallen asleep and Angela got off the bed. "Problem solved."

"You should probably go," Taylor said, getting up and taking her hand. "You know, at least make the family think you're gone."

"Yeah, I probably should do that," she said. They walked out of Zo's room and down the stairs. They headed to the stairs where Diana caught them.

"Going somewhere?" she asked.

"Oh, no, I was just leaving," Angela said.

"Well then it was nice to meet you dear," Diana said, shaking her hand. Angela gave her a smile.

"You too." Angela turned to Taylor. "I'll see you later."

"Yeah," he said, a small smile on his face. "Bye." She kissed him and went out the front door. Taylor closed the door behind him and turned to his mother. "Well, I'm going to bed."

"All right," she said. "Goodnight dear."

" 'Night, Mom." He went upstairs and into his room where Angela was already waiting for him. "Geez, you know she still might come up here."

"I've got my eye on the hallway," Angela said, tapping her forehead. "I'll be able to make it out of here in time."

"Good." He kissed her. They fell back onto the bed, him on top of her, kissing heavily. It was about a minute later where Angela suddenly pushed him off of her and disappeared. He looked around, confused, when the door opened and his mother walked in. He sat up. "Oh, hey Ma."

"I don't know if anyone told you, but you boys don't have to go into the studio until ten o'clock," she said. He nodded.

"Okay, great. I get to sleep in," he said. He picked up his alarm clock and reset it. She gave him a smile.

"Well, goodnight honey," she said.

"Goodnight, Ma." She left. Taylor let out a deep breath and Angela walked out of the bathroom. "Jesus, could you give me a warning next time?" he asked her.

"I'm sorry," Angela said. "I stop paying attention for one moment and suddenly she's running in here." Angela sat back down on the bed with him. "I'll try to warn you next time I do that. But get this, I was aiming for the edge of the floor mat and that's where I landed! I actually landed where I was aiming for!"

"Um, yay?" he said.

"I'm getting better! You should be happy for me."

"Okay. I'm happy for you, Angel," he said and kissed her. She was slightly disappointed when he didn't take it any further.

"What's up with that? No more intense making out?" she asked.

"Come on, you wore me out today. I'm exhausted." He lay back on the bed and she got on top of him. When she started to kiss his neck he shook his head. "Honey, come on, I'm tired"

"You are so full of it," she said. "If I can go so can you." He shook his head. "Oh, all right" She let up and laid with him in the bed, and before long the both of them had fallen asleep.

Taylor woke up in the morning with Angela and smiled. It was definitely a good feeling waking up to her. He looked at the time and wasn't at all surprised to see it was almost six o'clock. He was looking forward to sleeping in however he knew that it didn't work that way. With Angela by his side he was back to his old self again and his old self work up at six in the morning in order to be at the studio at seven.

He got out of the bed and unintentionally woke Angela up. She stirred and opened her eyes, looking like the angel he knew she was, laying on his pillow, her cheeks rosy and her smile contagious. "Hey," he said. "Good morning."

"Good morning," she said, sitting up. He kissed her.

"Whoa," he said.

"What?"

"Do you not have morning breath?" he asked. She gave him a confused look. "Breathe on me." He leaned in.

"What? No!" she said. His eyes widened.

"Oh my God, you do not have morning breath," he said. She shrugged. "You really are perfect."

"I'm not perfect," she said. "I still have to brush my teeth with the rest of them." She got out of the bed and followed him into the bathroom where they brushed their teeth (Angela using his toothbrush). He was amazed at how clean she woke up. His hair was a mess and needed brushing while she was looking like she was ready to take on the day and she hadn't even been awake for ten minutes yet.

"Why don't you pop outside and I'll drive you back to the hotel?" he asked. She nodded. "Let me change first."

"I'll be outside." He turned around and she was already gone so he quickly went back into his room and changed before grabbing his keys and walking out of the room. He went downstairs, surprised to find his mother already awake and in the kitchen.

"Good morning, Taylor," she said. "I figured you'd be asleep for another two hours." Taylor shrugged.

"Well I guess I'm just used to this. Uh, I gotta take care of some things before I head down to the studio so I'll be gone for a while." She nodded.

"All right, dear."

"See you later, Ma." He left quickly and found Angela outside leaning up against his car door. "Hey you, you'd make a good hood ornament."

"You would make good road kill," she said.

"Not funny." He unlocked the car doors and she got inside next to him. He pulled out of the driveway and onto the road. "So maybe while I'm at work today you can look for you new LA home." She nodded.

"Yeah, I'll probably do that," she said. "I wouldn't even know where to start, but things always seem to work out for me and it's not like I have to worry about money."

"That is true." He was still a bit uncomfortable knowing that she had so much money to her name but over the past two days that he'd been with her none of that really seemed to matter. It all just kind of went away as they spent time together. There was just so much ahead of them; she was going to stay the summer and now that they were dating he could see her nearly every day, spend his nights with her and be happy with her. He was almost positive that she was the girl that was supposed to be his future wife because, well, that's what she said. She was an Angel and she made very accurate predictions, and she was the only girl he'd met recently, so he knew that she had to be it.

When he pulled into the parking garage the hotel he and Angela got out and went upstairs to her room. "You know, I can't get over this room."

"Yeah, but it's what they gave me," Angela said. "I didn't even ask for it; the guy at the front desk said it was saved for people like me, whatever that means."

"Well you're kind of a celebrity now."

"I'm not a celebrity," she said. "I don't do anything. I don't sing, I don't act, or dance, or do any of that crap. I just inherited some money."

"It worked for the Hilton sisters," he said.

"Well they're models, Taylor," she said.

"You could be a model," he told her. She gave him a look. "You could!"

"Taylor, I'd need to be about six inches taller. I like my height and I like my life the way I am. I don't go out to clubs and party, I don't do any of that crap! I just hang around and save peoples' lives. I don't need the money I have but I do have it and I'm grateful for it. Before this I lived in a two-room apartment smaller than this room here with no hot water and a bug problem. I lived in the lowest of the low and now I'm living the high life. I can only wonder what's next." Taylor shrugged.

"Maybe a life of happiness."

"Hopefully," she said. "I mean I deserve at least a couple of days of happiness." She collapsed into a chair, pulling Taylor into it with her. "I love you." He smiled.

"I love you too," he said, and kissed her. "You know, I was thinking, we don't have to get married right away, but"

"Taylor, you're crazy," she said.

"I know," he said. "But I'm kidding. I know it makes you uncomfortable that there is a possibility you are the one I'm supposed to spend the rest of my life with."

"You really think that, don't you?" she asked, looking adoringly up at him.

"Well who else is there?" he asked, giving her a smile. "It's only you, Angel." She smiled.

"Yeah, I guess so."

"Great, then you agree. Let's get married." She gave him a look. "I'm kidding." She leaned up against his chest and let him put his arms around her. The only reason he was so comfortable with this was because she made the mistake of telling him when he was supposed to meet his future wife, but if she didn't tell him then he might not have gone for it with her. She did have to admit she was having a blast with him. Maybe fate did have a weird way of working things out.
