28 weeks photo
Hi friends and family!!!!
Today I had my 29 week checkup.
My blood pressure was great, and so is all else! I passed the gestational diabetes test, with a 133!!!! HOORAY!!!!!!!
All is well with baby, heartbeat has been consistently around 145.
And I passed the gestational diabetes test! WHEW!! I was kinda nervous about that! Fundal height measures 29, just perfect!
We scheduled an ultrasound for the 15th, which is just a few days before week 31, the dreaded week of pregnancy that Amanda Joy died. My dr. is being very understanding and helpful and hopeful for us. I am soooo dreading that week, just remembering it is so scarey! It was so weird standing there, while the nurse was on the phone making the appointment for me, and answering questoins about me, then she had to tell them WHY I need another u/s and she said "prior fetal demise at 31 weeks" and had to repeat it like 3 times to them, and I just stood there, thinking about Amanda Joy, and praying desperately that THIS baby will come home healthy and alive with us!!!!!! Kinda shook me.....BUT I am trying really hard to remember that this is a different pregnancy, and a different baby!!
Also, hopefully we can tell the sex then, and then I can make a big announcement.
Also got the c-section scheduled for December 16th! They need to call me with the time, but we will have the baby that day, unless my water breaks first, or I go into labor, then it will be earlier.
So only 10 weeks to go till baby arrives!!
I also had the opportunity to visit with the head of Labor and Delivery. She answered alot of my questions, and even told me that if I want, I can come in an hour before they tell me to for my c-section, so that I can come and relax in the jacuzzi tub and warm up (since it will be December!) She said since I won't be able to use it afterwards, I might as well come early and use it! She also told me that they allow rooming-in with the baby, and that there is a Lactation Consultant available to help us get started breastfeeding!
I also talked to her about some of my preferences for after the birth, like getting time with just me, Chuck and Charlie BEFORE the rest of the family and friends come and overwhelm us with love! and she said that was fine. She also told me that they will put the catheter in AFTER the spinal, so I don't have to feel it! Thank God for that!!! And just a few other things I was wondering about. She is super nice, and I think it will be a positive birth experience!
I have been having problems sleeping at night, in between getting up to pee, hartburn and leg cramps, the nights are just not great. So the Dr. said I could take Tylenol PM, and that will hopefully help, if not, pretty much, too bad for me! LOL!
Other than that, all is well and good and fine. I cannot complain.
OK, the Baby this week: The growth has begun to slow down now, but baby will still gain approximately 4 pounds between now and birth. If baby were born now, she would be almost three pounds and able to breathe, but might tire easily and need assistance. Baby's little eyes are sensitive to light.
Our baby's brain is developing billions of neurons (important for later learning) at an amazing rate ? no wonder the head is getting bigger now! To meet baby's nutritional demands ? which peak this trimester ?mom will need plenty of protein, vitamin C, folic acid, and iron. Baby's bones, in particular, are soaking up lots of calcium now, so I need to drink my milk (or find another good source of calcium, like cheese or enriched orange juice). And get enough fiber in my diet to help prevent constipation, (EWWW!) which can lead to hemorrhoids, a common occurrence in late pregnancy. (Let's pray I DON'T get these!!!!)
My belly button has been an "innie", but it may soon become an "outie" now. It's getting kinda flat!
Such fun things to report this week!
