A
willingness to learn is a mark of growth and wisdom.
Proverbs 1:5 states, "A
wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of
understanding will attain wise counsel." The
Hebrew word for learning
in this verse means "a taking
in."
If
we desire to grow in our knowledge of God and learn to please
Him, we need not fear discarding old ideas and taking in
new ones that more adequately explain the Scriptures. People
who are seeking wisdom will welcome new ideas.
They
will test them by the truths of the Bible, either to confirm
what they already believe or to enlarge their knowledge
and understanding.
