BACK TO MAIN ANIMAL PAGES

Description

The Rhino is large grazing mammal with one or more horns on its snout. Rhinoceroses have thick, loose skin with little hair, stumpy, powerful legs with three toes on each foot. There are many species of rhinoceros, including the Indian, White, Javan, and Black.

BEHAVIOR

Rhinos territory sometimes overlap with other rhinos. Rhinos usually share watering holes and feeding grounds with multiple rhino's territories. Rhinos are bad tempered, and will charge if a predator enters their territory. The vocabulary of the Rhinoceros is extended to growls, grunts, squeaks, snorts, and bellows. Rhinos have a good relationship with birds, as the birds eat the ticks and parasites that infest the rhinoceros's back. 1
