As the red panda lives in the mountains of China and the Himalaya's,and also in Myranmar, it has adapted to the harsh environment. The fluffy red fur that covers the entire body of the red panda is used to protect it during the harsh winters. Since there is also alot of red plants and lichen in the mountains where the red panda lives, the color of their fur helps them to blend into their surroundings. Although the red panda's closely related cousing, the Giant panda, eats mainly bamboo, the red panda has a more variety of a diet, eating berries, and nuts too.
Red panda females are pregnant a period of 134 days, and usually 1 to 4 little red panda's are born each litter. Red panda females build nests for their litters, and the litter stays in the nest for 90 days, until the female mates again. Red panda babies reach full adult size at about 12 months. The age of maturity is reached at 18 months.
