Families in the wild horse life are called herds. Herds are made up of one stallion
and his mares and their foals. There is also herds for all stallions who have no mares.
The main goal for a stallion is to win a mare so he can mate and have foals. Stallions
will trick, fight, and run the leader of a herd just to try to get one mare alone so that
he can claim her. Once he does, she's his, and he has to protect from others trying to
steal her from him.Even if the mare already has a foal, a stallion will still try to
steal her away from her herd.
Male and female horses fight, but usually the male horses fight more harsher than
the average mare. When a mare fights with another mare, she usually will just bite and kick.
she usually doesn't mean to harm the other to the point of death. When a stallion or a
yearling fight with another male horse, the results can be frightening. Male horses usually
fight over mares, which means they will sometimes fight till death, but not usually. They will
go back on their two hind legs, and lash out with their front legs and teeth. A hit with
one of those front hoofs could cause serious damage, even death. It may not seem like it,
but the teeth can tear off a human arm if they got the notion too. Imagine what teeth like
that could inflict on another horse.
