William was born circa 1757 probably in Germany.  His surname in Germany might have been Honnold.  He entered the United States through New Jersey in circa 1770, resided in Harford County, Maryland, York Co., South Carolina and Williamson County, Tennessee.

Possibly he married a relation of Hugh Allison and Margaret Hope. Hugh Allison lived in Harford County, Maryland and York County, South Carolina.  Hugh Allison's son, Hugh Allison, Jr. was living in the same area as William in Williamson County, Tennessee.  Also Robert Love signed William's will and Hugh Allison's will...do not know if it is the same Robert Love.  Hugh Allison, Jr. married a Love, possibly a sister to Robert Love?  Among the Civil War letters to Robert Honnoll's family is a letter from a M.E. Johnston in Lawrence Co., TN.  Hugh Allison's daughter Martha married John Johnston and their son John Johnston married Nancy Hunnell who was born during the time William Honnoll was having children...possibly this Nancy is one of the unidentified daughters and a sister to Peter, Robert, Allison and Sarah.  Would welcome any new information on this family that might help in making the connection to William Honnoll.
