| Arriving on stage to a muted response from a half empty room (due to a cock up with door times) Detroit City Council appear to be unfazed by the empty floor in front of them. Bathed in red light, and clad in a uniform of bright whites DCC launch whole heartedly into their set of funk-rock classics. One thing is clear from the outset, the lack of audience isn't going to stop this Detroit 5 piece from having a good time. With rock star shapes thrown left right and centre and T J Potters legendary sliding dance moves, it's not long till the crowd begin to venture out from the shadows and onto the dance floor. |
| Set highlights include the up-coming debut single "Mary's Lil' Lamb" (out Monday 12th May) by the fourth track into the set, the superb b-side "Fuck Like Folks", which features the funkiest guitar licks and basslines we've heard in a long time, the somewhat wary crowd have joined in the party. With a nod to the late great mayor of Detroit, Coleman A. Young, DCC continue to 'blow our brains', Potter throwing his fists in the air along to title track of the forthcoming album, "Party Planet Rising". It's over all too soon as DCC troop off stage with the sound of cheering ringing round the room, always leave them begging for more. |
