In April, spring sprung itself... and then it got broken or something. But, on the brighter side, hopefully May will usher in some better weather so we can all venture outside for BBQ's, picnics, street festivals and backyard parties. Some warm weather and sun is just the right recipe for whatever ails you...

Speaking of Sun... Did you know you can buy Sun Records on the web? Well, you can. And you can also sell your old stuff that you don't want anymore! They have a great feature on their website where you can list items that you want to sell or check out what others have listed that you'd like to buy (lots of guitars and other instruments are listed). But even better, there's another section listing hundreds of records for sale. They are listed by item (for example -- 45RPM), item condition (ranging from FAIR to MINT IN PACKAGE), the artist and song title (ranging from the well-known stars -- Elvis, Jerry Lee, Johnny Cash, & Carl Perkins, to the lesser knowns -- such as the Prisonaires), and finally, by price (ranging from a measly $4 to well over $1000 for the truly rare stuff). Happy shopping. Tooling around on the internet, I found a few other websites within the last month that I think are fun, interesting, entertaining, or useful in some way. I thought I'd share the wealth with all of you!!

Online Rhyming Dictionary for Poetry & Songwriting
Maybe you're a budding Dave Sisson in search of the perfect rhyme for "pomade." Or maybe you're Ken Mottet and looking to rhyme... well, let's not go there. Whatever your rhyming needs, the Online Rhyming Dictionary for Poetry and Songwriting will set you up just right. Just type in your word and let the software take over. This site is courtesy of a company called Write Express, which sells business-writing and other software (they need to offer something to reel people in!!), so if you find the site helpful, you can shell out $29.95 for a more powerful version that would make even Chris Isaak envious.

Speaking of Chris Isaak... Has anyone seen The Chris Isaak Show on Showtime yet?? They make a point to try and write the show with Chris as some average guy that lives next door and happens to be a ROCK STAR. The show features Chris (of course), his real band (with the addition of a fictional keyboard player) and some record company executives. The guys in the band that back Chris up on tour and have played with him for years, play themselves on the series which has been getting rave reviews from critics. A combination of comedy and live performance clips recorded just for the series, its a real winner. The web page was given at the end of the show, and I checked it out. Ladies -- check out the "Dressing Room" Section for sure. It has a section with a Photo Album that's filled with pictures of Chris just looking...hot! There's also bio information on Chris and the band members and a schedule showing which episodes air on certain days.

Chicago Landmarks & Architecture
Have friends coming into Chicago for a visit? Tired of taking them to see all the same old tourist stuff? Want to increase your pool of knowledge about this great city of ours? Want something to do now that the weather is warming up?

They're a good web site to use in order to find out a lot about Chicago landmarks, architecture and history. Its a web site by the City of Chicago, but don't let that deter you! I was looking for information on Art Deco buildings and there is a Virtual Tour you can take on-line, or use it to craft your own tour sometime when you can get outside to enjoy the Spring or Summer sun! Have an interest in Pre-Fire Chicago (not talking about your ex-team Ellen!!), Early Skyscrapers, Railroads and Bridges, Prairie School Style, Art Deco, Terra Cotta (as long as its not falling on your head!!), Mansions, or other architectural styles??? Then visit Landmark Tours to take virtual tours and get building specifics including address, builder/architect, year built etc. For general information on Chicago Landmarks, also visit here.

More next month,
Susan Funk
