The Nashville Predators signed forward Jim
McKenzie and defenseman Andrei Mukhachev on Tuesday.
McKenzie played for the New Jersey Devils last
season, scoring four goals and adding eight assists. In 14 seasons,
McKenzie has 47 goals, 49 assists and 1,651 penalty minutes,
including three seasons of more than 200 penalty minutes.
Mukhachev will play for CSKA Moscow of the Russian
Hockey League this season before reporting to Nashville's training
camp in September 2004. He was a seventh-round selection in this
year's entry draft.

Renney to become assistant coach with Rangers
Tom Renney will be an assistant coach in addition
to vice president of player development for the New York Rangers,
who shuffled several front-office jobs Monday.
The Rangers missed the playoffs for the sixth
straight season despite an NHL-high payroll of more than $70
million.
Renney was head coach of theVancouver Canucks in
1996-97. His move with the Rangers means player personnel director
Don Maloney will have responsibility for all scouting operations.
Jim Schoenfeld, an assistant coach last season,
was made general manager of the Rangers' top minor-league affiliate,
the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack.
