Harry J. Smith, me, better known as Harry, was born in Shelbyville Indiana on January 27, 1932.
Went to Saint Joseph's Catholic School in Shelbyville for 8 years (Class of 1946).
Went to Shelby High for 4 years (Class of 1950).
Married my first, only, and current wife "E. Joan Smith" June 9, 1952. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Joan Dale. We have always called her Joie.
Got a BS in mathematics from the University of Dayton in 1954.
Got an MS in mathematics from Purdue University in 1956.
Attended Stanford University for 6 months starting the fall of 1956.
Worked for Lockheed Missiles and Space Co. from June 1956 to September 1961.
Went to work for Mellonics Systems Development, Inc., in September 1961. I was there for 35 years. Mellonics was bought by Litton Industries in the 60's and is now known as Litton Computer Services.
In 1996, Litton Industries bought PRC Inc., and on July 27, 1996 I was transferred from Litton LCS to the Defense Systems Market Sector of Litton PRC. The PRC home office is in McLean, Virginia, but I still work in California.
In 2001, Northrop Grumman Corp. (NYSE: NOC) bought Litton Industries (Closed April 2, 2001). Nothing has really changed yet, but stay tuned. Logicon Inc. is Northrop Grumman's IT firm that I could be transferred to.
Yes, as of June 1, 2001 I work for Logicon Inc., A Northrop Grumman Company.
