Mayu is the main character of Hizashi no Sawa. She is the oldest of four children, and a senior in high school. Mayu has to work really hard in school to keep her grades up, but when she isn't working on school, she is involved in the lives of her friends. She's really sweet and always puts others before herself, always concerned for her friends happiness and stuff. Mayu has gone her whole life with out much of a love life at all, not liking any of the guys that might have crushes on her. That is, until Rii Takahashi moves it. Suddenly, Mayu is caught up in a dramatic soap opra of her own! She goes to the Valley of Sunlight and recieves the gift of fire from her ansestors. Now, not only does she have to keep up with school, her friends, and her own soap opra, but she's got some guy she has to find and get vengeace on for some other dead girl. Her life's gone insane! Not to mention her partner, the insensitive, arrogent jerk, Rii, is seriously messing with her mind and feelings. And what...She's supposed to fall in love with him? Yeah right!
