| The Baleric Isles staff cannot stress the issue of respect enough. Being respectful allows for an enjoyable and satisfying role play for all participants. Please note that being respectful includes lack of crude language and technical annoyances (i.e. excessive pinging, inviting, and private messaging) as well as practicing politeness when out of character. This rule applys to all channel users and role play members. The operators reserve the right to deny any users access who knowlingly neglect the channel rules. |
| 1. Be Respectful |
| Modding is truly one of the worst annoyances that can occur within a role play. The Baleric Isles role plays are designed to allow and adjust to almost any kind of character and with that is important to understand the concept of what modding really is. Modding can be defined as an 'overexaggerated display' and often times refers to the excessive use of powers. The most popular type of modding is known as 'God Modding' in which a character displays god-like attributes (i.e. control over life and death, uncomprehendable powers, and excessive immunitues). Modding will be delt with accordingly and can result in a minor warning or ban from the channel. Any god-like character involved in the role plays is typically considered a non-player character (NPC). |

| Although it is not necessarily required, character approval by a channel administrator is highly recommended. Approving a character will allow other role players to get to know your specific character on an out of character basis (OOC). It will also give the channel operators a chance to inform you on what may be a suitable character choice for the role play at hand. For instance, in a medieval role play you wouldn't really want a detective from the twenty-first century whose means of transportation is the Harley Davidson in his garage...it just wouldn't fly. |
