The three people seem to still be standing in the book-nook, but (though the kids don't know it yet), they're standing in a similar, rather nondescript and underlit cluster of study rooms in the 26th century.
G.S. is totally comfortable and casual about this change. He is stowing the Time-box in his vest or shirt pocket, prior to taking out a slim notebook and (!) fountain pen.
To judge by their body language, the two kids are goggle-eyed and looking this way and that in shock and wonderment. Behind them, the portal has shrunk to a tiny pinpoint.
During the next few panels, the two kids will express astonishment, confusion, etc. etc. There should be some variety in how they do that; not simply open-mouthed in every panel.
PORTAL: (a tiny) pop!
MANDY: (to both guys, or just to the scenery) Did something just happen to us?

Three-person panel, with back of G.S. nearest, Rob rallying to confront him in middle, and Mandy in the, still a little stunned.
ROB: (to G.S.) You bet it happened. Mister, what the heck did you do?
G.S.: (pleasantly) Here's my question, Robert Anvill...
