Asbestos In Our School
As you walk down the hallways at BUHS you never know when you may come across a WARNING label saying this:
I have always wondered what the risks of that warning sign may be or even what asbestos is for that matter, I bet 3/4 of the school has no idea what asbestos is or what its health hazards are, yet they still talk about how bad it is for the school.  I'm not saying its good for the environment, but the reason it's here is because when the building was built it was used in the construction, which then was totally alright and asbestos was a great mineral useful in building commerical buldings.  So below are the rules that the school has to follow when dealing with asbestos, these are implimented by the U.S. Environmetal Protection Agency (EPA).
                     The Schools Rule "Big Three"

Initial Inspection - All schools covered under the rule are required to have an inspection conducted by an accredited inspector to determine the location and condition of the asbestos in the school building, before students occupy the building.

Management Plan - A management plan is then developed by an accredited management planner from the information contained in the initial inspection. The management plan is a working document designed to be used to identify asbestos-containing materials in the building, before renovations or maintenance activities are performed.

Three Year Reinspection - Every three years following the initial inspection, the school must hire an accredited inspector to evaluate the condition of the asbestos materials identified in the initial inspection.

So according to this all the asebstos needs to be removed as the construction is being done on our building.
