"Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in thee: let
me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me. Yea, let none
that that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress
without cause. Show me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths." Psalm
25:1-4

David's need for deliverance from his enemies is expressed here. He is
dependent upon God. Perhaps we also find ourselves in a position at times
when  no one except for God can be depended on in our lives. It is good
for us to be at this place! When we face failure, rather than success,
and feel as though we are going down in crushing defeat, let us recall
these words of David, "Let not mine enemies truimph over me" ~ what a
prayer! We should be praying like this also.
Enemies are those who oppose not only us, but also God's way of living.
And our greatest enemy is Satan! David asked God to keep his enemies from
overcoming him because they opposed what God stood for. If his enemies
succeeded, David feared that many would think that living for God was
futile. David did not question his own faith ~ he knew that God would
truimph.
"Shew me thy ways, O LORD" ~ There are two ways in which we can go :
God's way, or our own. God gives us this choice to walk in the path of
our choosing. But "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the
end thereof are the ways of death" (Proverbs 14:32). It is a glorious
thing to be able to call upon the Lord and ask Him for direction in our
lives!

Application:
As David asked the Lord for guidance, we must also ask. We can receive
guidance from God, first of all by reading His Word ~ His primary
guidance system will be found in the Bible! Psalm 119 tells of the
endless knowledge found in God's Word. By reading and learning, we will
gain the wisdom to perceive God's direction for our lives. When we are
willing to seek God, learn from His Word, and obey His commands, we will
then receive his specific directions for our lives.

May God bless you as you seek God's will in your life through prayer and
the reading of His Holy Book, the Bible, that will help give you
direction in your life in all situations.

Love in Christ,
Sandy
