| "He must increase, but I must decrease. He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all." John 3:30-31 Do you remember the day of your salvation? Now, take note of that day ~ when you stopped thinking of yourself first and foremost! That day was the beginning of your maturity! For the first years of life we are almost completely wrapped up and concerned about our own needs. We are very insecure ~ we worry that we will not be taken care of. We grasp at every chance to ensure our selfish wants and needs. When the pie is divided, we want the biggest piece, or at least as much as the next person! It takes a long time before our attitude changes ~ for some people, they receive Christ at a very young age; while most have wasted almost half their years in selfishness; and then, tragically, there are those who never accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. But let's go back to that day of maturity ~ when Jesus captured our hearts ~ Who then took first place in our attentions. We began to make sacrifices for the Loved One! We now value Him more than our possessions. And isn't it great? It is the love of Jesus and our love for Him that triggers our turn-around because we have matured in Christ Jesus. We have made Him greater, as we have become less! Application: John's willingness to decrease in importance showed unusual humility. We, Christ's Saints, can often times be tempted to focus on success and selfish desires while residing here on earth with all of the devil's temptations about us. But let us keep remembering our day of salvation ~ the day we put Christ first in our lives. Let's get Him back in "first place" where He belongs each and every moment of our lives! May God bless you with a wonderful day as you focus completely on Him and what He has done for you. Love in Christ, Sandy |
