Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love G-d, to them who are the called according to His purpose.
Another comforting verse. Just think He promises ALL things work out for the good for those that love Him and know Him according to His purpose. Sometimes it may not feel like it but G-d is in control and His purpose will stand and it will all work out for the good. Praise G-d!
Romans 8:29 For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers.
A word study of "foreknow" and also "foreknowledge" strives to identify the word's meaning. Meaning depends on usage.
Checking the various translations and how they translate each verse where the word occurs:
1 Peter 1:20-21 For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you who through Him are believers in G-d, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in G-d.
Acts 2:22-23 "Men of Israel, listen to these words: Yeshua (Jesus) the Nazarene, a man attested to you by G-d with miracles and wonders and signs which G-d performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know-- this Man, delivered up by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of G-d, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death.
Acts 26:5 since they have known about me for a long time previously, if they are willing to testify, that I lived as a Pharisee according to the strictest sect of our religion.
Romans 11:2 G-d has not rejected His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah, how he pleads with G-d against Israel?
Galatians 3:8 The Scripture foresaw that G-d would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Avraham: "All nations will be blessed through you."
2 Peter 3:17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard lest, being carried away by the error of unprincipled men, you fall from your own steadfastness,
What does Foreknown mean?
Foreknowledge - It is translated from the Greek word "prognosis". It is found in the following two verses.
Foreknow - To know beforehand. It is translated from the Greek word "proginosko"
Foreknown means we are chosen, predestined, elected, blessed, singled out, planned, to be sprinkled with His blood, to be shaped in His Son's image and to be obedient before the foundation of the world by G-d.
If such is true it gives me a sense of peace to know how much G-d cares for us and how He has dealt with us. He even gave up His Son to be put on the execution stake in our place. This Son intercedes for us when we do wrong.
Romans 8:30-35 Moreover whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified. What will we then say to these things? If G-d be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not with him also freely give us all things? Who will lay any thing to the charge of G-d's elect? It is G-d that justifies. Who is he that condemns? It is Messiah (Christ) that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of G-d, who also makes intercession for us. Who will separate us from the love of Messiah (Christ)? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
G-d did not say we would not have troubles. Persecution will arise. But He will be with us through the tough times.
Romans 8:36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
We are sheep for the slaughter. This is the attitude of those against us.
This corresponds to:
Tehillim (Psalms) 44:22 But for Thy sake we are killed all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.
Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.
We are still however conquerors. How?
Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, will be able to separate us from the love of G-d, which is in Yeshua HaMashiach our L-rd.
Through Yeshua. - He does the work in our lives. The victory belongs to Him.
He says He would never leave us nor forsake us.
Nothing can separate us from His love. NOTHING. This again is a good example that once we are His, we are His! We cannot lose our destination. We don't have to worry about losing our flight ticket! Even if there is bad weather or turbulence on the way, eventually we will be received by Him into the Kingdom. Olam. We are sealed.
Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of G-d, which is in Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus) our L-rd.
