Romans 1:5 By whom we have received mercy/grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith/trust among all nations, for His name:
For obedience to the faith - implies we are to be obedient to Yeshua.
The book of Romans ends with this obedience mentioned. (Faith involves trusting obedience)
Romans 16:25-27 Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus Christ), according to the revelation of the mystery which has been kept secret for long ages past, but now is manifested, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal G-d, has been made known to all the nations, leading to obedience of faith; to the only wise G-d, through Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus Christ), be the glory forever. Amen.
Romans 1:6-7 Among whom are you also the called of Yeshua Messiah: To all that be in Rome, beloved of G-d, called to be saints: Mercy/Grace to you and peace from G-d our Father, and L-rd Yeshua HaMashiach.
Saints - Calling the few true Christian's in Rome saints at the time, Paul thanks G-d for them. (We, believers in Yeshua, are all Saints.)
Romans 1:8-15 First, I thank my G-d through Yeshua Messiah for you all, that your faith (trust) is spoken of throughout the whole world. For G-d (HaShem) is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers; Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of G-d (HaShem) to come to you. For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, to the end you may be established; That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith/trust both of you and me. Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles. I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
Paul says he is a debtor to Greeks and foreigners, wise and foolish. This means because of the mercy bestowed on him by Yeshua he was in debt to all. This means he must preach the good news to them whatever their position in the world.
Romans 1:16-18 For I am not ashamed of the gospel (good news) of Messiah: for it is the power of G-d unto salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of G-d revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, the just will live by faith (trusting). For the wrath of G-d is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Are you ashamed of the gospel? Do you share your faith with others? Or are you embarrassed to tell people about Him?
Romans 1:19 Because that which may be known of G-d is manifest in them; for G-d has showed it to them.
Could "righteousness of G-d" in Romans 1:17 be applied as G-d's righteousness?
How does this relate to the proposition stated in Romans 1:16-17?
Hint: Something is being revealed.
Answer: G-d's Righteousness or Righteousness of G-d?
This is a very subtle point here. It should state G-d's Righteousness. It shows possession of righteousness belongs only to G-d. For only He is righteous and we are justified by His faith.
It should not be the "righteousness of G-d" because that would be His attribute, and G-d is not sharing His attribute with anyone. (i.e. G-d's omnipresence) It is a righteousness, and it is from G-d; it is not man's righteousness.
Habakkuk (Havakuk) 2:4 "Behold, as for the proud one, His soul is not right within him; But the righteous will live by his faith.
Philippians 3:8-11 More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus) my L-rd, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish in order that I may gain Messiah (Christ), and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Messiah (Christ), the righteousness which comes from G-d on the basis of faith, that I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
J.R. Church states: Habakkuk means, "embrace." This prophet wrestles with the difficult question concerning G-d's sovereignty. (Ironically) He asks, "How, can G-d use the evil Babylonians - to be judges of G-d's chosen, holy people? And how can the wisdom of the world be stronger than the wisdom of the prophets? In his struggle, Habakkuk remembers G-d's mercy and finally trusts in G-d's salvation. (Mystery of the Menorah, J.R. Church, Co.1993. pg.231)
Ironic in that a Jewish Person today may ask, "How can G-d use the Gentiles or the church to spread G-d's righteousness and His grace? Again, remember G-d's mercy.
How is the "revelation" of "G-d's wrath in Romans 1:18 connected with the "revelation" of "G-d's righteousness" in Romans 1:17?
His wrath is against human unrighteousness. This shows His righteousness. His righteousness and wrath come together.
