Paris
We spent 5 days at a Natalie's pied à terre on Boulevard de Grenelle. Since the meter maids were on strike, the car stayed parked in front of the apartment without any more tickets:

Near the Opéra, on Madeleine Square, are two impressive shopping gallerias called Les Galeries Lafayette and Le Printemps:

Towards the Basilique Sacré-Couer, the basilica & the nearby artists' square on Montmartre:
Tour Eiffel & a birdseye view of the park below, the Trocadéro & the River Seine:
Arc de Triomphe & Avenue des Champs-Élysées:

Musée du Louvre:
Versailles:
Inbetween bottles & bottles of incredible wine, we managed to graze aplenty... on the left are the best oeuffs ever, poullet et frites, morrocan food & on the far right a healthy salad of mixed greens, asparagus & grilled chicken breast:

After surveying a handful of wine stores, including the adequate selection at the Monoprix on Boulevard de Grenelle, we finally settled on Caves de la Transat (36-38 Avenue Emile Zola, Paris 75015) and scored the following great, affordable bottles: 1999 Faiveley Nuits-St. Georges Les Damodes (red burgundy), 2000 Château Sergant (pomerol), 2000 Château des Annereaux (pomerol) & a 1998 Château Desmirail Initial de Desmirail (margaux).*
*Faiveley is one of the largest vineyards in the Burgundy region. Rather than a widespread use of clones, François Faiveley reproduces vines from his own stock. Most of Faiveley's top wines are hand-bottled unfiltered & unfined, complex, opulent & show pinot noir at its best. Follow-up: Pleased to report that this bottle lived up to high expectations & will be the bottle to measure all future pinot noir tastings. California & Oregon vineyards have much to aspire to since local pinot noirs lack the style & elegance that this wine should have.
Château Sergant & Château des Annereaux are owned by the Milhade family, who are well-regarded for their uncompromising production standards & commitment to the restoration of historic Bordeaux estates. Situated on the west-end of the 18 hectare vineyard, the 2000 Château Sergant grapes are from 30-year vines and represent a blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. Situated on the plateau near Lalande in the heart of the appellation, Château des Annereaux produces one of the region’s largest lived (yet lesser known) wines.
Château Desmirail is a margaux 3ème cru from a 30-hectare vineyard that is planted with 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The vineyard adjoins Château Palmer, which absorbed the estate in 1957. The "Desmirail" name was revived by winemaker Lucien Lurton in 1981. Not expecting much from this bottle, but being a Palmer fan, am looking forward to noting any similarities.
