You have just picked up the first edition of the realist Hip Hop magazine in the Twin Cities, Cypher Magazine. This magazine's purpose is to provide true Hip Hop fans with information on Hip Hop in and out of the cities. You will find album reviews on signed and unsigned artists, interviews, recent Hip Hop news, and concert reviews. We will also have special sections, such as artists to look for, labels to look for, Hip Hop essays, Tag of the month(Graffiti), Lyrics of the month, artist/producer of the month, and much more. The reason this magazine was created was because I was personally sick and tired of not being able to pick up a Hip Hop magazine without seeing a huge Grill on the front, and having to turn to the very back and read small letters to find anything about real Hip Hop, not Lil Jon and Paul Wall. Don't get me wrong, they have their place, but its not in my CD player and i don't want to read a six page spread about them. I also noticed that there is no easy way to learn about new local Hip Hop artists, concerts, or urban art. Now theres a way. So here it is. If anyone has any suggestions, questions, or comments let me know (we will have a comment section every month as well) by e-mailing me at [email protected]. Also, if you want me to review your album or just your demo (this could possibly mean an article on you, but no promises), then e-mail me at the same address as above. Enjoy and keep Hip Hop alive. |
