Red Caboose kit

Inspiration for this load of bridge timbers comes from SP Freight Cars Vol.1 Gondolas and Stock Cars, by Anthony W. Thompson on pg. 129. The model load was built-up from stained dimentional wood strips. Note the hollow construction of the load. This both lightens the load and uses less wood in the making of the load.

This kit involved disassembling and adding more weight under the floor and in the centersill. Light weathering using Polly-Scale paints.

Built per instructions, rearanged brake rigging and staff brake wheel. Added weight to the centerstill and under the floor. Weathered and restenceled the car for early 1950s. Note the heavy weathering to hide the fact that I was short two "N"s on the decal sheet for "PENNSYLVANIA"! This was a fun little car to build, I think I will acquire several more.
