The Tehachapi Pass Exibit is designed to operate the same way that the prototype did in the 1950s. Many members and guests have said that it's not a model or a toy, it's a Railroad. This railroad can handle a crew of 30-40 without overcrowding. One trip from Bakersfield to Mojave on the fastest train takes 20-25 minutes. The club uses a fleet of about 700 plus cars currently during a Op Session. When the layout is complete a run from Bakersfield to Mojave will take 1.5 hours, assuming that it is a straight run with no other trains to stop and wait for.
