Sorry it's been a long time coming, but better late than never hey? Well it was a great trip, and it was back in June 2002. The travel party consisted of our good friends Karen, her daughter Shaheeda, Pete, Anna, and VJ and Grego. The basic plan was, fly to Christchurch, drive to Methven and stay for 6 days, then Pete, VJ and Grego head North, Karen, Shaheeda, and Anna to go South.
We arrived there no problem and then set out to drive to Methven. Fairly simple and all went smooth. None of us had seen snow before, and as it started driving in, it was a bit of a thrill. Methven is a small town on the Canterbury plains, that services the Mt Hutt ski fields and the local farming community. We would all have to say it is one of the best little towns we've ever been to. Everyone in the town made us more than welcome. We managed to find a couple that handle Methven Holiday Homes. We had a choice 3 bedroom house all set up, and it is the way to do it if there is a bit of a group of you. The Blue Pub was a great place to meet up for a nice beer in a friendly atmosphere. The Brown Pub across the road isn't bad also. We all had mixed feelings about sking, but all agreed that we were glad we tried it.
