Bidean Nam Bian
This is the greatest hike I had the chance to do in this region. It offers great vistas good weather or not.
The beginning of the trail is just a bit further than the road leading to the little house you can see on the picture. From there it follows an amazing river until you arrive in front of Stob Coire Nam Beith (the peak on the picture) where you have the choice between two directions. Continue to follow the river on your left. Once you have arrived to a little pond, look for a place between the cliffs where you can pass. If it is a cloudy day, you will need a compass and a good map. You have a little scarmbling beginning there which will bring you on the ridge. There a trail there that you can follow on your right which will bring you to the summit of Bidean Nam Bian. It should take you around two hours and a half to get there.
From there you have the choice to come back the way you came or to continue on the trail and come back by the Lost Valley (the second trail on the map). I highly recommend to continue. The Lost valley offers a lot of great landscapes and has an historic signification. Four century ago the clan which was living in the glen, the MacDonalds, where hiding the stolen cattle in this valley because they where the only ones to know its existence. It is also a really good place to meet deers in the early or late summer.
It should take around six hours to complete this hike unless you decide to walk a bit further on the ridge and come back after by the Lost Valley which can be really rewarding too.
