    HI  I'M  HOMELESS
NEWSPAPER
Newsflash: Two weeks ago a homeless friend and another friend with a home, were struck down in the street by a hit and run driver. The homeless friends name was flaps and the other friends name was cory. I've known both of these people for many years and they are great human beings. I'm not just saying this because they are my friends. It's the truth. Flaps died the same day and cory is in critical condition at Doctors Hospital in Modesto. Flaps has always been a character to say the least. He's a friendly and funny old man.
He's a senior citizen, over 60 yrs old and always collecting cans. Thats where you'll see him most of the time. In the parks and on the street is where his home is. He'll casually walk up and say hi, or wave as you're riding by. He'll always be there till the end. In my memory's, Flaps is one of my best friends. The homeless people want to thank the Modesto Bee for saving a space in thier newspaper for Flaps. www.geocities.com/hiimhomeless
CITY COUNCIL is open to the general public, every tuesday at 5:30 p.m.. They will give you three minutes to say what's on your mind. Their location is 1010 10th st., Modesto, Ca. It's time to step up to the plate.
The  Word   It is written:  Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor has entered into the heart of man, the things God has prepared for those who love him. But God has revealed it to us through his spirit. As lovers of God (believers) our eyes can read his word and understand it, our ears can hear and understand his word preached to us, and his childrens hearts are filled to overflowing with the love that Jesus has given them to share. When his children put their hearts together you see his love blossom, like it has at the Gospel Misssion here in Modesto. I pray my friends, that you will seek him first, as you seek food and shelter. In his grace. Chaplin Fred T. Ennenga

ACCOUNTABILITY:    Isn't it funny how people will act and do as they please until they are in the public's eye. Then they act, do, and say, totally different from what they were before. Almost like they are a different person all together. We, as a whole, need to be held accountable for ourselves in all walks of life as much as possible. When our own City works together in all areas such as employment, government, education, religion, and any entity which represents our community, we have a better chance of experiencing a higher quality of life here in Modesto. There should be none excluded. Give a homeless person a job and make them accountable. www.geocities.com/hiimhomeless
I don't care if there are alot of rules. I don't care if I have to wait in line. And I don't care if the rules changed, since I started going to the day time drop in center on 9th and D st last winter. I just hope the center is still open when it gets real cold and starts raining. I enjoy being there, out of the elements, and in a safe place.       A thankful homeless person
We at Grace Baptist Fellowship, appreciate the music ministry of our friend, James Flaherty. James performed for our 7th annual airport neighborhood block party this year. We had 600 people show up and we were able to feed them and minister to our friends and neighbors (including many homeless). Thank you James for your gifted singing and guitar playing for the Lord. To God be the glory.      Pastor  Larry A. Bradley
In 1987, the Stewart B. Mckinney Homeless Assistance Act constituted a recognition by the federal government that homelessness was a national crisis, and it was an acknowledgment of federal responsibility in adressing the situation. This new law provided concrete emergency aid to thousands of homeless people across the country. The Mckinney act saved lives. But implementation by the federal agencies charged with carrying out the programs has been uneven. Congress has identified and sought to correct other instances of agency noncompliance. There has also been a history of misappropriated funds for the homeless, through some agency's and religious, nonprofit, organizations. Where does all of this money go, and who does it go to?
Suddenly you're homeless, in a different world that is stained with poverty and shame. You become an eye sore. You find out that not very many people really care or they would do something. It doesn't take a special person to care for the homeless. It takes a willing person. Most people don't care because they need a changed heart. Jesus gives heart transplants. If you become born again and truly follow Jesus, you will try to help other people when they are down and hurting. It's a shame that alot of christians act like unsaved people. They don't want to help the homeless either. They make up all kinds of excuses like, that's not my ministry, I'm not called to do that. I don't have to do that to be a christian. These people will have a rude awakening when judgement day arrives. Matthew 25:45 says, - I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.   Selah.......
