The Word Luke 9:58 Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head. Jesus "the son of man" was homeless 2000 years ago, in a different time and a different land. The religious leaders of the day looked down their noses at someone who spent time with the poor and needy, ministering to their needs, healing them and telling them the good news, the kingdom of God is at hand, repent from your sins and be saved.
Jesus, our Lord and redeemer can be seen in His disciples in this current day and time, as they minister to the needs of the lost and needy. His message is more urgent than ever, repent of your sins and call on Him as your Lord, and be saved. Are you lonely? Are you hurting? Or are you just plain tired? Call on the name of Jesus: He is waiting at the door of your heart. Fred T. Ennenga
The Ethnic Origin Of The Name Flaherty: From flaith, a lord or chief, and oirbheartach, noble-deeded; the man of noble deeds.
It's almost Thanksgiving. Do you have anything that you are truley thankful for?
It's Thanksgiving morning, although cold outside, the sun is shining through the windows, warming up the old house where my Grandma lives. It's only 9:00 a.m. but Grandma is already busy with the food and the people that are calling on the phone. There are many pies laying on the antique vanity, near the dining room window, and there is food already on the table. This will probably be the last thanksgiving dinner the family will ever have at Grandma's house. Grandma is 83 now, and can only stay in the kitchen for short lengths of time, then she has to sit down to rest. My Grandma has spent a large majority of her life cooking in the kitchen. Even when she didn't feel like it, she would be cooking and feeding someone, including me. Grandpa's in the living room watching the Parade on t.v. and sippin coffee. It's an old house, but with new wallpaper and really nice old fashioned furniture. It's a comfortable and colorfull old house. Grandma made all kinds of cookies including persemin cookies-from the persemin tree that grows out in the back yard. All the leaves have fallen off the tree, but the persemins are many-(large, plump, and orange). Out in the back yard is also the traditional old wooden shed my Grandpa has always had available, so he could run his private lawnmower business, and work on anything he wanted to. He is losing his eye sight now and can no longer fix things. So, he sits at the dining room table most of the time listening to the radio or in the living room trying to see whats on t.v., but mostly listening. I have heard many stories and events, sitting at my grandparents table, talking with them. I can still hear Grandma yelling really loud out of the kitchen window at us. Albert, James, come on in, dinners ready. This was the last Thanksgiving I ever had with my Grandparents, and it was the best. Thank you Jesus
To the world, you're only one person. But to one person, you can be the world.
Here you go James! Chris Thanksgiving is a tradition here in North America that many look forward to. The "first Thanksgiving" that we refer to wasn't called "Thanksgiving" at all. It was a harvest feast and lasted for three days. Squanto, a Wampanoag man who spoke English after previous travels to Europe, had spent the summer with the pilgrims to help them learn how to live off the land. At harvest time, they threw a big party. The pilgrims and the native Americans ate wild fowl, venisen and some seasonal vegetables together while playing games and singing songs. There were probably no pies as they had no access to sugar and no forks either...pilgrims ate with spoons, knives and their fingers! Whatever you eat this year, remember the spirit of this holiday, helping others, sharing and being thankful to God for life, provision, friendship and salvation. Chris Whitler
